THAT Group will be hosting a further public consultation event on Thursday 15 February regarding the latest proposals to redevelop 2-16 Clifton Down Road, a key site in Clifton village which is bounded by Clifton Down Road, Boyce’s Avenue and King’s Road.
There has been a long planning history regarding this site, dating back as far as 2010. In 2016 THAT Group came forward with a new scheme featuring a mixed-use commercial development of less square footage than the previous consented schemes, to include a range of retail units on the lower floor levels, with office space above and top floor restaurant space. This was widely consulted on in September and October 2016, but ultimately is did not proceed.
Following consultation feedback and ongoing discussions with key stakeholders over the past 12 months, the team has further revised the proposals which will be worked up into a final scheme for planning in the next few months.
Some of the key changes include a significant reduction in the overall size of the development, with a stepping back of the frontage onto Clifton Down Road. Also planted terraces and canopies to soften the elevation and to maximise enjoyment of the now enlarged public space.
Clifton residents and businesses are invited to a drop-in style staffed exhibition session on:
Thursday 15 February from 6 – 8pm in Clifton Library, Princess Victoria Street, Bristol BS8 4BX
Representatives from THAT Group, Feilden Clegg Bradley architects and Tetlow King Planning will be present at the event to talk through the latest proposals and answer any queries.
Following the consultation event, the exhibition material and a feedback survey will also be available at THAT Group
