Bristol Zoo’s latest arrival was let loose in Clifton this week! To launch the Dinomania exhibition, a large, life-like animatronic dinosaur ‘escaped’ from a Zoo van on Wednesday and momentarily brought traffic to a standstill at the city’s iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge before being ‘recaptured’.
Named ‘Denzel’, the escapee was a 4m long costume dinosaur, similar to a T-rex, with life-like blinking eyes, moving body parts and fearsome sound effects. Standing at almost 2m tall, Denzel stunned passers-by in Clifton this week and is set to make numerous further appearances in the village across the city this summer….you have been warned!
BID Clifton Village are really excited to be involved in such a unique project and challenge you to go and look for our two Stegoceras beasts lurking in the Zoo ready to pounce. They might look cute but they can still pack a punch! Others set to make Bristol Zoo their home will be a Tyrannosaurus Rex, Dilophosaurus and Giganotosaurus – one of the largest dinosaurs that ever lived.
The dinosaurs will be taking up residence alongside the Zoo’s 400 animal species for a 14-week summer exhibition, from Saturday May 27 until Sunday September 3. Entry is included with normal Zoo admission. For more information visit www.bristolzoo.org.uk or phone 0117 974 7300.
