With blue skies and wall to wall sunshine, even the weather came out to celebrate the first ever Clifton Fest.
This month saw BID Clifton Village organise its biggest community event of the year, Clifton Fest 2017 in conjunction with Smiley Miley Events. It started in several venues on Friday night and on Saturday the entire Village was buzzing with music, with hub areas hosting a range of artists and performers throughout the day. There was something for everyone from moody blues, magicians, community choirs, face painting, classic quartets to a fabulous swing band. Denzal the Dino came out to play and spent the whole day in Clifton Village, loving it so much he decided to come back again the next day! The varied menu of music continued throughout Sunday making this a truly diverse event for all ages. The grand finale being Steve Treble and the All Stars and what a way to end the weekend, the audience took over Princess Victoria Street and were literally dancing in the street!
We were also joined by a flash mob of dancers, a complete surprise and so much fun! Watch out as we are hoping they will return soon to the Village to get us all dancing and super fit…
It is hard to say how many visitors came to the Village over the weekend, it was certainly in the thousands and on Monday the Bristol Evening Post described the festival ‘a roaring success!’
First and foremost a huge thank you to Tony Miles and Smiley Miley Events, as without him none of this would have been possible. His energy, enthusiasm and hard work has created a community event that we hope will become an annual event. Thank you Tony.
A big thank you also goes out to the following businesses for actively getting involved, either by hosting events, their own hospitality or feeding and watering our wonderful musicians;
Avon Gorge Hotel
Brunel Wine Bar
Nettle & Rye
Spicer & Cole
The Corrie Tap
Clifton College and Fox Bikes
Bristol Zoo and Denzel!
The Clifton Sausage
A very special thank you goes to Steve from Treblerock, not only a fabulous musician and performer, he also offered invaluable advice and loaned equipment to ensure the music could be heard throughout the Village.
We heard so many talented musicians over the weekend, many giving their time for free and we sincerely thank them for their generosity. Without the help and support of these artists, businesses and individuals none of this would ever have been possible. Their support and enthusiasm helped create Clifton Fest.
