150th Celebrations in Clifton Village

Well  its certainly been a busy time in the Village over the past weekend.

We started the 150th Celebrations on the Saturday with a day of street artists, carol singers and musicians which was organised by BID Clifton Village.  The ‘knitted Clifton Suspension Bridge’ was sited in Chappell and Matthews window and it will remain there until Saturday 20th December – we’re sure Brunel would be proud to see it.

On the Sunday Clifton Village was filled with crowds of people all walking up to the Bridge to see the celebratory fireworks to mark its 150th Anniversary.  A one minute silence was respected by all to remember the tragedy of Charlotte Bevan and many others.   It proved to be a truly spectacular firework display and was seen by tens of thousands of people .

On the Monday a grand procession walked across the bridge to mark the opening of the Bridge 1864 finishing at the newly completed Suspension Bridge Visitor Centre which is now open (daily between 10am-5pm)

We are immensely proud of our Suspension Bridge and we hope that you will enjoy the delights of Clifton Village when visiting the bridge.
